Police complaint has been filed over Telugu actor Balkrishna’s contentious comments on women. Balakrishna for his comments on women at a film function in Hyderabad on Friday. At an audio release function of Telugu film Savitri, Mr Balakrishna said his fans won’t accept if he simply chased women in his movies. "I must either kiss or get them pregnant," said Mr. Balkrishna, which made women on stage appear visibly uncomfortable. The 56yearold actor is a Telugu Desam Party legislator from Hindupur and the brotherinlaw of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He is also the fatherinlaw of Mr Naidu’s son Lokesh. This way there may be many people to protect him legally. However, he also should think of all the relatives’ prestige linked with them. The comment has triggered angry reactions from YSR Congress leader Roja and several others. "If such senior leaders don’t respect women, no wonder status of women is what it is. He must apologize," Mr Roja said. On Monday, Mr Balakrishna apologised saying he had only expressed what he thought were expectations of fans and had not meant to humiliate any woman. The police say they would examine the legal provisions before filing a FIR.
