Scores of people died after a passenger bus veered off the road and plunged down in Khaharekhola, Birta Deurali of Kavrepalanchok district of central Nepal on Monday afternoon. Police have already recovered 24 bodies of the victims, the Kavre District Police Office said. Earlier it was reported that, at least 28 had died in the accident.
Casualties, however, are likely to increase, according to an eye witness. The bus (Ba 3 Kha 106) was heading toward Madankudari of Kavre district from Kathmandu when it skidded around 150 metres down the road in the remote village, according to Sub-Engineer at the neighbouring Kattike Deurali VDC Office, Naresh Karki. The incident occurred at around 1 pm today, he added.
