President of the largest party Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba is elected as the party’s parliamentary party (PP) leader by securing more than double the votes cast in favor of his rival and party’s senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel.

Deuba secured 139 out of 206 votes cast while Paudel secured 67, according to the Election Committee. A total of 207 MPs were enlisted as voters.
The voting took place at the party’s PP office office in Singha Durbar.

Former Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat, who is injured after falling off from a staircase at his home, cast his vote through his helper, Ramesh Mahat. Meanwhile, NC leader Nar Hari Acharya, who is recuperating after suffering brain haemorrhage, could not cast his vote.
