Cars are things that most people could probably live without, others need them for their jobs. Rich people, however, need them as a means to flaunt their money while making poor people cry. It’s a shame because some of these luxury cars don’t even get driven— mostly because their maximum speed isn’t street legal. Heck, having that amount of money for a car that you can’t drive on the road shouldn’t even be legal!
To rich men, vintage cars are literally and figuratively a thing of the past. They remain expensive, but rightfully so. It’s all about supercars that look like rip-offs of the Bat Mobile (or actually are the Bat Mobile). For cars bearing million dollar price tags, you’d expect these manufacturers to hire people who can produce original exterior designs. Well, maybe it’s only fitting since Bruce Wayne is the epitome of the perfect rich man with the most extravagant toys.

It’s ironic how some of these cars are limited, and that eager buyers have to go through a selective process in order to own one. Just because you have the cash, doesn’t mean you can get the stash. So, haha! We’re in the same boat because I won’t get picked as a buyer like you! Take that, rich dude!
All of the cars on this list are worth more than my whole neighborhood’s net worth combined! Now, I’ve never been a car person, but I’m still waiting on the day when I get to finally buy a Delorean and have my own pseudo time machine a la Marty McFly.
10. Porsche 918 Spyder
10. Porsche 918 Spyder
From millionaire sports stars like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to your average billionaire Porsche collector, the 918 Spyder was one of the first of a new breed of supercars announced in 2013, all of which have a price tag north of the $1 million mark.
Limited to only 918 units, you aren’t *just* buying the 918 Spyder, you are also buying the chance to be on the exclusive Porsche VIP client list who will have access to purchase all other Porsche supercars released in the next 10 years. What a deal! With a total of 887 horsepower, the 918 Spyder maxes out at about 210 MPH!
9. Hennessey Venom GT
Price: $1,000,000
9. Hennessey Venom GT
Price: $1,000,000
It’s not just an insanely expensive car at $1 million, it’s also an insanely FAST car. The Hennessey Venom GT holds the land speed record for a street legal production car at slightly over 270 miles per hour. It’s also a record breaker for its launch speed, the fastest car to reach almost 190 miles per hour, in just over 13 and a half seconds! All Hennessey production cars are extremely limited, but there are only 3 of this edition in the entire world.
The 2014 class of the Venom GT was dubbed by Hennessey as the “World’s Fastest Edition”, even though the Guinness Book of World Records doesn’t recognize it. That’s because there needs to be at least 30 made and the official run has to go in both directions to cancel out the effects of the wind. Still, the book of records doesn’t stop Hennessey from making the rightful claim of the Venom GT being the world’s fastest.
8. McLaren P1
Price: $1,300,000
8. McLaren P1
Price: $1,300,000
The McLaren P1 is the current poster boy of the supercar movement at the moment, and the flagship model designed and produced in England by McLaren. First announced to great fanfare at the Paris Motor Show, all 375 production models were quickly spoken for within a few months. The very first P1’s began delivery in the Spring of 2012, with the very first model going to supercar collector Jay Leno. Weighing in at just shy of 3,300 pounds and packing a whopping 903 horsepower, McLaren has electronically limited the car to max out at a top speed of 217 miles per hour! Anything more would just be crazy!
7. Pagani Huayra
Price: $1,300,000
7. Pagani Huayra
Price: $1,300,000
Named hypercar of the year in 2012, the Pagani Huayra (an Incan Empire word for “God of Wind”) is also one of the fastest cars you can buy! Capable of reaching a top speed of over 230 miles per hour, this car is such a beast that it’s not even street legal in many countries. So unfortunately, you may have to leave your Pagani Huayra at your French castle. How terribly inconvenient.
You may recognize this car from the popular show “Top Gear”. The test track is one of the most recognizable in the world thanks to this show, and the Huayra holds the record for fastest lap with 1:13.8, which is more than a full second ahead of the Ariel Atom V8. You can even catch this luxury car in the latest “Transformers” movie, because Michael Bay didn’t want to leave this beauty out.
6. Ferrari LaFerrari
Price: $1,400,000
6. Ferrari LaFerrari
Price: $1,400,000
With less than 500 units built (499, to be exact) the Ferrari LaFerrari is the ultimate Ferrari supercar, the first since the release of the Ferrari Enzo. Even if you had the $1.4 million to purchase the car, you were out of luck! All 499 buyers were hand selected by the President of Ferrari himself, to be sure that they would keep and cherish the cars, not putting them on the open market as soon as they took delivery. Unfortunately that didn’t work out and several of these 963 horsepower behemoths have hit the markets at over 3x their retail price.
5. Lamborghini Reventón
Price: $1,600,000
5. Lamborghini Reventón
Price: $1,600,000
A self-titled “masterpiece” according to Lamborghini when it was unveiled in 2007, the Lamborghini Reventon was, at the time, the most expensive Lamborghini model ever produced. With only an extremely limited 27 individual units produced, and only 20 of those actually available to extremely VIP customers (like Middle Eastern royalty, you’re not likely to ever see one of these on the roads. It also doesn’t help that the car as it comes stock is NOT street legal.
If you are one of the proud owners of a Lamborghini Reventon, there’s a good chance that you don’t care too much about the legality. After all, if you can afford the $1.6 million price tag, you can afford the ticket for driving a car that’s not street legal. Plus, the police aren’t going to think that you can’t drive this beauty on the road. Though they may pull you over to take a look at the interior of your Lamborghini for themselves.
4. Koenigsegg Agera
Price: $2,000,000
4. Koenigsegg Agera
Price: $2,000,000
Manufactured by famous Swedish automakers Koenigsegg, the successor to the Koenigsegg CCX is the Koenigsegg Agera. The Koenigsegg Agera One:1 limited edition (if you can get much more limited edition than the regular Agera) weighs in at 3000 pounds and is turbocharged with a ridiculous 1341 horsepower, good for 281 MPH!
Coming from the country of Sweden, the Koenigsegg model is a Swedish verb that means “to take action”. It sounds like an odd name for a car when translated, but it makes sense in the native country. “Top Gear Magazine” named it the Hypercar of the Year in 2010, and it broke six total landspeed records when it was first tested in 2011. Some of the world records have been broken since they were set in 2011, but the fact that so many were shattered by the Agera make it one of the finest (and best looking) cars ever made.
3. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
Price: $2,500,000
3. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
Price: $2,500,000
The car du jour for every rap star, boxer, and athlete rich enough to spend at least $2.5 million on a hypercar, the Bugatti Veyron was named the car of the decade by Top Gear. Supercharged with 1000 horsepower, the Veyron is good for speeds of up to an amazing 253 MPH.
The Super Sport is actually street legal (if you can believe it), making it the fastest of its kind according to the Guinness Book of World Records. The name of the car is a tribute to Pierre Veyron, who was once an engineer with the Bugatti company and helped to win the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race as a driver, all the way back in 1939. There have been a lot of different versions of the Veyron made since its inception of 1998, but the Super Sport is the top of the line model, and easily the most expensive of its kind.
2. Lykan Hypersport
Price: $3,400,000
2. Lykan Hypersport
Price: $3,400,000
There’s a good chance you’ve never heard of Lebanese car maker W Motors, or their flagship model the Lykan Hypersport that takes the title as the very first hypercar manufactured in all of the Middle East, and not just because of the super high $3.4 million price tag! The Lykan Hypersport can reach speeds of 250 miles per hour, and can go from 0 – 60 miles per hour in under 3 seconds. As the first Middle Eastern supercar it’s only right there are some eccentricities, the high price of nearly $1 million more than the Bugatti Veyron is due in part to additions such as the front headlights which are made up of titanium blades containing more than 400 diamonds! At the time of purchase you can choose which rubies and diamonds you would like embedded in the headlights, or if you’d prefer them to be rubies, sapphires, or yellow diamonds.
1. Lamborghini Veneno
Price: $4,000,000
1. Lamborghini Veneno
Price: $4,000,000
The most expensive Lamborghini ever produced, nearly 4x the price of the Lamborghini Reventon. This masterpiece of a Lambo is modelled after the Lamborghini Aventador and was built as part of Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The Veneno was available for sale to the three most VIP clients in all of Lamborghini’s client database. We’re talking major heavy hitters! As a tribute to their homeland, each of the three cars were produced in the three colors of the Italian flag.
The Veneno itself looks like a car taken from future and brought back to our time. Venenos are part of the Aventador family, but have clearly been made in a much more limited fashion. While 2,356 Aventadors have been made since 2011, there have only been three of these to make it only for the world’s elite.
