4 Detained against former attack over Budhani Devi Mahato, former MP from UCPN­Maoist; Budhani switches Party in Maoist

 May 17, 2016 ­ Police on Tuesday arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in the attack on former Maoist MP Budhani Devi Mahato. The detained are – Laxmi Yadav, Naresh Yadav, Nathuni Yadav and Rajeshwor Yadav of Laxminiya­8 in Janakpur, according to Inspector Mukesh Pokharel of the Area Police Office, Gaushala, Kathmandu. They have been detained from their home. Others’ search is in­progress, according to police. Including Nathuni Yadav, NC activists, the group who came in a group of 8­10 people, had beaten to her injury while she was sitting at home at the evening on Monday. PM Mahato has been seriously injured due to the indiscriminate beating by the gang of assailants including NC activists Nathuni Yadav who had come with home­used weapons including bamboo stick and others. Police said they are in search of the others who were involved in the attack. She was severely injured after being thrashed by them, according to a local UCPN­Maoist leader Mahadev Yadav. She cannot stand and speak, according to Mr. Yadav. Mahato, who had been a member of the first Constitutional Assembly from the UCPNMaoist; she is currently affiliated with the CPN­Revolutionary Maoist. This is how, she has switched her involvement from UCPN(M) to CPN­(RM). The reason behind the attack, however, is still unclear, said Inspector Pokharel. Mahato has been admitted to the Janakpur Zonal Hospital for treatment. Doctors , who involved in her treatment, said Mahato has received injuries and blue marks all over her body
