In a sensational murder case, a 27 yearold man slit the throat of his 30yearold lover, after taking a selfie with her. Following the coldblooded murder, the accused, Ashish Kumar ‘Monu’ posted the selfie as profile image on WhatsApp, and updated his status that he had done away with his married girlfriend, as he described her with abusive words, hence he texted the incident to his friends. The shocking incident took place on Friday, Feb 5 in Prem Nagar area of Dehradun. The victim has been identified as Gurpreet Kaur. According to police, Gurpreet was married to Gurjeet for 5 years and had been living on rent at Kumar’s house on Tyagi road. Actually, Gurpreet Kaur is the wife of Gurjeet Singh and they were the tenants of Ashish Kumar. Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, Mr. Sadanand Date has said “Prima facie it appears that the two were in a relationship and Kumar was annoyed that she was friends with some other people, too. On the ground of the suspicions, it appears that Kumar had prepared for the murder.” According to Gurjeet, Ashish Kumar has taken Rs.2 lakhs from them and has refused to return the money and this led them to vacate the house. The culprit has killed her and without any fear has put a display picture on WhatsApp and has updated his WhatsApp status with abusive words on her. He had escaped from the spot after the incident and the Police Department was in search for him.
