Tension ran high in Baluwatar after a clash broke out between the cadres of Federal Alliance and the security personnel on Tuesday.

The clash broke out after the protesters tried to enter the prohibited zone in the area that houses the official residence of Prime Minister.

After protesting outside Singha Durbar, the country’s main administrative centre, for two consecutive days on Sunday and Monday, the Federal Alliance yesterday had decided to picket outside the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today.

The alliance of 30 parties, including the constituents of United Democratic Madhesi Front, resorted to fresh protest with an aim at piling pressure on the government to get their demands regarding the provisions in the new constitution fulfilled.

Their demands include provisions for proportional representation and rewriting of the recently promulgated constitution.
