Pathari (Morang), July 23: The Bakraha River flooded by torrential rains entered the human settlement at Betini of Madhumalla-5, inundating 61 houses.
Flood waters from the river breached an embankment at Betini this morning and gushed into the village, a local journalist Santosh Gautam told the RSS.
It is the third time that the river has entered the village this monsoon. The floodwaters are also poised to enter the Dhappar Tole located in the border of wards no 4 and 5 of Madhumallah, terrorising the normal life. However, no human casualty has been reported from the flooding, Area Police Office Madhumallah Sub Inspector Yadu Kumar Khadka said.
It may be noted that in the recent flood-related incident last month, 50 households were displaced from Upper Kaseni of Madhumallah-5, Dhappar Tole and Beteni. Floodwaters inundated over 200 houses in these areas. Over 300 bigaha of arable land has been turned into desert by floods.
